July 20, 2010

Did you unleash your subconscious in your writing this week? Have you written a poem using that material? Did your writing turn out to be surreal, or did it seem to be too real for your liking? Don’t know about anyone else, but I can get pretty silly with free association. I’ve copied it out faithfully if you’re curious. It did, however give me one serious poem; and the leftovers made another, pretty-ish.

Here’s my offering for this week….evidently the oil spill is still hanging out in my mind. BTW I *will* get around to reading people’s poems this time. RL has just snuck up on me lately….

This was a blast for me, I wrote two. I loved writing this way, and will likely do it again. Both of my pieces are a bit surreal. If you only want to read the poems and not the process, scroll through, the titles are in bold. Thanks for being here We Write Poems, and for the prompt, Nicole!

I started with a series of wildly divergent images and then they all seemed to fall into a pattern. So I followed.

I enjoyed this prompt, the experience of the writing and am so-so on the result. BUT HEY! I wrote and completed the process. Now I can make Samuel pancakes.

I used the “S” for this prompt. I didn’t know what would result… but, luckily, something did! Here it is:

Hey folks — I was at a poetry meet today, then visited a friend in the hospital and then came home to a mess. But, it’s all fixed. Feel free to visit!

      Thanks!

Hi Wayne. I’m not getting through the blog authorization tonight (but not to be dissuaded… ). Very nice poem. Image rich yet not crowded in the least, and I like the movement too, right out into the landscape as a whole (and more). Nicely done!
