Fire is elemental. Fire is a state of change. Write a poem about the art of making fire. Fire means many things. We suggest perhaps you study and consider the actual attributes of fire (maybe do a little internet search). But the slant we’d also like you to include, is the relationship of humans to fire itself, and specifically how we can come to “making” fire. With that for background, that physical understanding of matter and energy, then release your imagination, play, let your pen wander some – see what you can tell us about making fire within a poem.  Let fire and fingers be your guide!

Just to amend your discover process we offer up two somewhat unexpected sources of information to tickle your imagination (but please feel no constraints, as we encourage you to color outside the lines!).

Making fire with coke and a chocolate bar.

Making fire with IKEA products (a video).

Yes, we’re being sincere, just not serious!

Come back next Wednesday when you see,It’s Post Your Poems Day!” and leave a link to the poem on your blog. If you don’t have a blog, then please, post your poem in the comment itself.    ***    You are invited to respond to the prompt given here, but if you have something else you’re just itching to share, please feel welcome in doing that. Our first desire here is to encourage you to write and learn and share.    ***    When leaving comments to other’s poems, please be appreciative and encouraging. We are not a poem “critique” site (unless someone specifically asks for that). Be kind with each other (and yourself!).    ***    Please consider including a link with your blog poem back to the prompt response here at We Write Poems so that others may see and join our community. More participants do make better soup!

This is my first time here. I’ve just come up with two different takes on the prompt. If you want to see them early, they’re already on my blog.

See you all next week..can’t wait to read the posts.
