Thursday Prompt #23 A Trip To The Zoo

October 7, 2010

A Trip To The Zoo

The prompt for today is all about animals. Do you relate to any specific animal and their behaviors? Do you see yourself slinking along like a snake, padding softly like a wolf or one of the big cats, or a domesticated version of either of them? Do you sometimes soar like a feathered friend? Or do you admire one of the creeping crawlies known as insects? All have things they can teach us about life and living. Can you trumpet like an elephant, caw like a crow, or spin a web like a spider? What have you learned from the animals around you, to be wiley or wild on occasion? Are you more of a pack animal or a loner?  Whatever your answers might be, put them into a poem and post them on Wednesday.

Come back next Wednesday when you see,It’s Post Your Poems Day!” and leave a link to the poem on your blog. If you don’t have a blog, then please, post your poem in the comment itself.    ***    You are invited to respond to the prompt given here, but if you have something else you’re just itching to share, please feel welcome in doing that. Our first desire here is to encourage you to write and learn and share.    ***    When leaving comments to other’s poems, please be appreciative and encouraging. We are not a poem “critique” site (unless someone specifically asks for that). Be kind with each other (and yourself!).    ***    Please consider including a link with your blog poem back to the prompt response here at We Write Poems so that others may see and join our community. More participants do make better soup!

I hope this fits the bill.

I’m gonna struggle with this one as the first thing that came to my mind when reading this prompt was Rilke’s Panther. One of my favourite poems. How could I compete with that? 😉

I detest zoos, and all they represent…
