introducing the Red Wolf Journal

February 1, 2014

Did you hear the faint steps of the wolf leaving his trail into the forest of poems? We hope you ventured a toe or two into the woods, left a poem for us to remember you. Meaning our recent WWP Red Wolf poem anthology.  And now to become…

introducing a new on-line poetry publication, the red wolf journal

While that first-ever WWP anthology made broad strokes, appropriately honoring participation itself, time for another step deeper into the trees and spirit of poems. We now would like to introduce you to a new “themed” on-going journal, a blog cousin to We Write Poems, here named the “Red Wolf journal“.

The Red Wolf journal will offer four quarterly themes each year. You are invited to submit as many poems and as often as you wish on each given theme. Selection for inclusion in the journal will be simply by the choice of the two editors for each quarter’s issue. Each issue will have a different pair of editors, so again, while themed, there’s ample opportunity to make a variety of homes within the language of poems. Each issue is sort of a themed nest, allowing like yet different poems to nestle together.

Red Wolf journal goes on-line today. Come read our starting theme and submission guidelines. Here you’ll have a chance to really develop and expand upon a core idea – different approaches, styles, experiences expressed, and even opportunity to revise a single given poem perhaps. We will be “publishing” accepted poems as they come rather than all at the end of each season’s issue, so all in all we are excited for this newer venue for writing and publication.

The precise nature of how it will all work is both “under development” and much is at the discretion of the editors, so expect the weather to change from time to time.

We hope you’ll find the woods a good place to be.
