introducing Elizabeth Crawford!

January 1, 2014

A December thanks to Tawnya Smith (Yousei Hime) for our holiday month of poem prompts. Really they were about taking what was right in front of our faces and using that to make poems. Then all ended with a well stirred bowl of poemsoup – all well done! (and we love anyone who quotes Bjork lyrics!)

Is it January already, said the rabbit with a hat, and even Wednesday so so soon as well? Yes, off to the tea party, late and hardly knowing a thing about the topic called “when”! Such is the painting on the wall when you’re both homeless and homed. But no matter that…

Here’s to utter a hearty good cheer and welcome to Elizabeth Crawford who will be doing our new year January poem prompts! Is there anyone here who doesn’t already know Elizabeth’s good voice and generous regard? Only the newest of the new. Elizabeth has been a long-time participant and previous prompter with us here. We welcome her back!

She says of herself she’s been writing poems for over thirty years, but started later in life. Me, I think some people just have poems in their skin, in their ears, in their eyes – and it’s not a matter of when you grasp a pen to write something with paper and ink. That to me is Elizabeth – she’s always been about expression and poems, whether or not she even knew it herself.

Please do say hello and let her know your appreciation for her labor in our regard.

      Whoa…that deep huh?

        Depends on how big, eh?
I’ve read that in the UK there is one labyrinth that is underground, has gift shop and an elevator for easy egress.

A while back Elizabeth did a month of prompts that I participated in and somewhere in our conversations ‘labyrinth’ came up. I ended up composing a booklet entitled Labyrinth from my daily blog starting May 1, 2012 and coming full circle (as it were) May 31, 2012 on my Julesgemstonepages (WP). 🙂

Thanks for the wonderful introduction, I love the idea of poems in ones skin, ears, and eyes (sounds like a poem in the making, or maybe a prompt?) Hope everyone has fun this month because that is what writing poems should be: fun, hard work, a bit of frustration, and then that deep deep sigh of total satisfaction when it turns out even better than planned. Am looking forward to these coming weeks…

I’m late to the welcome party, but no less happy to see you here, Elizabeth. My family left last night, and I may take some time to recover to poetry-writing mode!
