NaPoWriMo, week one

April 2, 2013

National Poetry Writing Month

National Poetry MonthAs has been suggested, we’ll provide this space to share poems during this April NaPoWriMo.  There are several websites offering daily poem prompts – post your poem links there or here, as you wish.  And some folks, well they think up poem ideas all by themselves, yet would like a common place to share their writing and experiences within a greater community.  Whatever reason (or none) that you may have – be welcome to post a specific link to your poems right here.

Write a poem every day, fine by us.  Write fewer poems than every day, that’s also fine!  Leave your poem links for what you write.  No counting here, just a gathering place.

We will make a “poem basket“, one for each week of this April month.  This is the first.

During April We Write Poems will continue doing our usual Thursday weekly poem prompts.

I have been busy writing, and I’d like to share this one written for Poetic Asides. I’ve also started up a new blog page just for April! http://miskpad.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/aprpad-day-2-molten-darkness/

How lovely. The idea of one place to come and leave links may save my sanity.

    Day 1: http://margoroby.wordpress.com/2013/04/01/napowrimo-one-poem-down/

    Day2: http://margoroby.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/napowrimo-two-in-a-row/

Thank you, WWP! Now we’ll see if I remember to come back.

I’m going to freestyle (aka minimal editing and agonizing) my way through this poetic month. You can read my first entry/post here http://stilllivingonmyfeet.com/2013/04/02/abstract-1-130/

  6. April 2, 2013 12:13 pm

Thanks for the ‘basket’! Though I am dubious about saving what little sanity of mine is left.

Yay, a poem basket for our April (mad) poems. I too think it a sane idea. Write your hearts out, poets. Your heart.

Thanks We Write Poems for another avenue to cross pens and paths!

I post every day at julesgemstonepages – that is linked to this icon. I just finished a month of Acrostic Elfjes, and I am focusing on haiku, tanka and renga this month.

But I also have been posting form Miz Q’s prompts here:

Neil and all involved, thank you for creating this space to link our NaMoWriMo poems…! I still miss the throngs of poets who used to turn out during this month at RWP. It’s like they not so slowly vanished? I do see a lot of the names at dVerse, and that site certainly puts forth the effort, but for me, it is simply not like RWP was. You, nor I with Writers Island, nor Big Tent, were ever quite able to capture and hold that particular ‘feeling’ again, once it dissipated – but kudos to you and WWP for continuing to offer a place to come! Although I understand the convenience of the Mr. Linky thing, I think it was indirectly responsible for the fading of that past ‘essence of participation’, because it turned the posting of links into more of a “fast food” experience. But, the genie is now out of the bottle, and that’s just me – old, cranky, and stuck in my ways. I still occasionally read our anthology that marked the end of that RWP party… Keep the shiny side up Neil… 🙂

    • April 10, 2013 5:54 am

…oops, that should be NaPoWriMo… It’s hell to grow feeble…

      • April 10, 2013 5:59 am

…and sorry for my public ‘weeping’ over the loss of the community feel at today’s poetry linking sites, you have put forth an admirable endeavor to maintain it…

    • April 12, 2013 11:48 am

There’s much to be said for old and cranky Rob! 🙂 Leastwise that’s what I’m hoping for.

That said, satisfying to see you here. Not for old times but because this is simply what’s next. And gratitude is simply being thankful for what we do have. I understand well enough the transitions and why, share much of your feelings along the way as well. But here we are, and now this is home.

And thank you Rob from us and from me for your kind words and sentiment. They, and you, do make a difference here. warmest regards, neil

Bless you Neil, may love be ever present in your life…! 🙂

I am battling an inner demon capable of shutting me down for great periods of time -!- the byproduct of failing health and plethora of medication… Fight fight him I will always, and right now I am enjoying some winning rounds, some victories, glad to be here…
