Prompt #135, It’s Post Your Poems Day!

December 12, 2012

My life as a poem

We Write Poems:

Is your life a poem? A “poetic question” we suppose, putting a little something wiggling on the hook. Although honestly, as about ever here, how you elaborate, how you define, what colors you put on your brush, all that we leave to you. We’d even be pleased to be surprised with some unexpected sort of response!

If you are alive, the elements of biology we’re talking about, then your every moment is some response to the one before – whether we’re even conscious of that, or not. And if you consider, regard that life has some purposefulness – then doesn’t the question deepen by quite some measure more? If you’re a poem, you, your life, what’s the message for us to know? What is your finger-print on this page?

Howsoever you found to respond, we await eagerly. And a small gift from one very considered and observant man to also share with you. An afterthought perhaps…

A human being is a part of the whole called by us “the universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening the circle of understanding and compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

– Albert Einstein

Don’t have a poem yet? Perhaps read a few done by others here, be inspired. There’s still plenty of time to discover a poem for yourself!

Leave the links to your poems in the comments of this post, then go visit your fellow writers’ sites and read their work. Remember to leave only positive comments in the spirit of sharing and not critiquing. We look forward to reading your poems!

Please remember to include a link with your blog poem post that links right back to here, this “Post Your Poems Day”, so that others reading your poem can also share in this community poem experience – maybe even someone new to We Write Poems!

If you are new to WWP, please be welcome to look around and read. The full prompt description you can find under “Recent Posts” on the top right of our page.

Hot off the press…as I waited until the last possible minute…wasn’t sure where to go, but I got there anyway.

Unable to comment on your blog, so…

Jules, while the ending makes me smile, some moment shared indeed, there is another single line that deeply impresses me – “sentences for senses”. Beautiful. It makes that bridge, as does the poem on the whole, between our physical selves and that more etherial expression of words as they reach out, expand beyond our single beings. So so well said. A very sensate poem indeed. Thank you.

Not at all the expected result. Not even the secondary expected result. I think it’s less than I wanted to do, but maybe the poem disagrees with me. Stubborn! But which of us?
