Prompt #129, It’s Post Your Poems Day!

October 31, 2012

I write (because)…

an introspection into why we write

We Write Poems:

So here’s a line in the sand – what is and what isn’t. However, it’s not a very big line and the tide will be incoming soon enough. Simply no fuss, just say your words.

We asked for a “list poem” that elaborates the question and response to your statements beginning with – I write (because). Anything more precise we leave to your hands and heart and words to make plain. Terry Tempest Williams provided one example of how such a statement might proceed. But that too is only rain to your seed.

Responses (as ever) might be direct and literal, even honest! They might amuse or bemuse. Perhaps circumspect, although we side with being brave, even blunt. Maybe there are responses we don’t expect (wouldn’t that be a treat?).

Time is ripe. Please share, and our thanks!

And happy Halloween!

**********

Don’t have a poem yet? Perhaps read a few done by others here, be inspired. There’s still plenty of time to discover a poem for yourself!

Leave the links to your poems in the comments of this post, then go visit your fellow writers’ sites and read their work. Remember to leave only positive comments in the spirit of sharing and not critiquing. We look forward to reading your poems!

Please remember to include a link with your blog poem post that links right back to here, this “Post Your Poems Day”, so that others reading your poem can also share in this community poem experience – maybe even someone new to We Write Poems!

If you are new to WWP, please be welcome to look around and read. The full prompt description you can find under “Recent Posts” on the top right of our page.

That was harder than I expected – http://vivinfrance.wordpress.com/2012/10/31/why-do-i-write/

First I thought I’d be stumped. Well I do write about me all the time, sort of – even if cryptically. I write about what I know, like, feel. So I put it aside for just a little bit… and then I tweaked the ‘list’ and happily post:

Well….it would seem for this prompt there are a lot of poems entitled “I write because.” Maybe we should take all the non-duplicated lines from each poem and make it a poets statement for We Write Poems. Happy Halloween, all you spooky poets. (Viv sometimes you really scare me!) xoxo

    I write because

The list aspect sort of fizzled out, but here it is: Mutus Liber
