Prompt #126 Your Masquerade Party

October 4, 2012

Your Masquerade Party!

We Write Poems:

Come celebrate the season. Don your mask and costume, enter the world of another and let’s have some fun!

Ever hear of a persona poem?

Also called mask poems, they are written from a perspective other than one’s own.  Whether it’s a friend, enemy, relative, pet, inanimate object, historical figure or someone completely fictionalized, think and write as if you were the other character, bringing them to life and capturing their world.  Wearing their “costume” gives you permission to step out of your comfort zone and change your style, tone and perspective.

Be it goblin, vampire, ghost or ghoul
Fairy princess, frog, clown or fool..
Leave behind your point of view
and to your own self don’t be true.

This weeks prompt is to write a persona poem.

Hope you can come to our party and see who else shows up!

Poetry is an echo asking a shadow to dance.

See you next week and let’s dance!

Come back to leave a link to your poem next Wednesday when you see our second follow-up post called, It’s Post Your Poems Day!  If you have questions about We Write Poems and our prompt-and-poem process, or if you are new here at WWP, please read our about page.
