Prompt #94 Ode to a Tree

February 16, 2012

Ode to a Tree

a community poem prompt

We Write Poems:
Rinkly Rimes plants the seedling for this week’s community poem prompt from her posting and prompt, Tumbling Timbers.  We are taking and generalizing on her suggestion, asking that you write an Ode to a Tree OR write from the point of view of a tree.  Your choice where you want to stand.  So we’re moving yet a little further into the elemental here this week.

Was there a favorite tree in your childhood, or a place where now you go for a sense of peace and calm?  Or did some friendly tree give you fruit?  Or if you were a tree, casting aside your human roots, what might you have to say about the history of seasons all about.  Just a few suggestions you may use or merrily ignore and make up something of your own.

Thank you Rinkly Rimes for this prompt.

Come back next Wednesday when you see,It’s Post Your Poems Day!” and leave a link to the poem on your blog. If you don’t have a blog, then please, post your poem in the comment itself. *** You are invited to respond to the prompt given here, but if you have something else you’re just itching to share, please feel welcome in doing that. Our first desire here is to encourage you to write and learn and share. *** When leaving comments to other’s poems, please be appreciative and encouraging. We are not a poem “critique” site (unless someone specifically asks for that). Be kind with each other (and yourself!). *** Please consider including a link with your blog poem back to the prompt response here at We Write Poems so that others may see and join our community. More participants do make better soup!

Why are we so drawn to trees? They out-line many a metaphor, don’t they? I have an Ode the willow tree of my child-hood.

Hi Janet and welcome here. Please remember, we post our poem links on the Wednesday following the prompt. You are welcome to comment here too but probably most folks will not see your link because they’re expecting it Wednesday and not yet. Just would like you to get more readers that way. Thanks.
