Thursday Prompt #25 The Wizard of Oz

October 21, 2010

The Wizard of Oz

Halloween is around the corner. So this week’s prompt is about choosing a costume from The Wizard of Oz, and then writing a poem from behind your chosen mask. Give a different perspective on some aspect of the story, as seen by ToTo, the Tin Man, the Witch’s broom, the Wizard himself, or those magical ruby slippers. Whatever you choose, give us a glimpse of what they saw, felt, or thought about what was happening. Did one of those Flying Monkies see something we didn’t? What would Gwendelyn’s magic wand say about the Wizard, the Lion, or the Yellow Brick Road? The character or object you choose might be right in the middle of the action, or looking back from a distance of years. Makes no difference, let us hear all of those other voices and just how they saw some of that story unfold. Whatever you choose, have fun!

Come back next Wednesday when you see,It’s Post Your Poems Day!” and leave a link to the poem on your blog. If you don’t have a blog, then please, post your poem in the comment itself.    ***    You are invited to respond to the prompt given here, but if you have something else you’re just itching to share, please feel welcome in doing that. Our first desire here is to encourage you to write and learn and share.    ***    When leaving comments to other’s poems, please be appreciative and encouraging. We are not a poem “critique” site (unless someone specifically asks for that). Be kind with each other (and yourself!).    ***    Please consider including a link with your blog poem back to the prompt response here at We Write Poems so that others may see and join our community. More participants do make better soup!
