Prompt #144, It’s Post Your Poems Day!

February 27, 2013

In your own words
We Write Poems:

So, was this prompt simply cake for you, or challenging? We hid the answers right inside your very own words, close as your fingertips. Or is that precisely what made the poem prompt all the more complex, rubbing your eyes repeatedly to see what you already know?

We asked you to identify personally meaningful words for you. The measure was simply, what words do you use most often? Identified either by frequency or emotional impact to yourself. Easy? Then choose one (maybe two, if you like making things harder!) and write a poem that shares something of your special relationship with that word. That relationship might be something unexpected and uncommon. More than fine! That’s exactly what we invited you to discover.

Read the original prompt here, as you wish. Time now please to share your process and poems with us here. Color us curious!

little pencilPlease now, share your poem with us.  Leave a link to your poem in a comment below.  Leave the poem itself if you don’t have a blog.  If you have questions about We Write Poems and our prompt-and-poem process, or you’re new here at WWP, please read our about page.

The full prompt description you can also find under “Recent Posts” on the top right of our page.

I like this (is it disjointed?) conversational poem (meant nicely I mean). Thoughtful. A small bright silver thread. And yea, we surely do talk to ourselves, or we’re at least rehearsing a lot. I’m glad poets talk. Glad you also write.
